My 5 Cheeky Rules for Owning the Gray
by Margot Hale, 58
So there I was, Honey, silver strands shining after that gorgeous man held my hand across the street.
My current husband nearly dropped his coffee when I told him.
- Own the shine. I tilt my head in sunlight till it flashes. Men sprint across lots like it's an Olympic event.
- Skip the dye. Color made my second ex call me safe. Gray gets doors flung open and fingers laced on Main Street.
- Pick your moment. I save the slow smile for the crowded grocery aisle. My current husband still pretends not to notice.
- Frame the face. Silver sets off red lipstick and bare collarbones. One ex stares. The parking-lot runners stare harder.
- Never explain. When he asks why so many men grin, I just pat his cheek. I'm old, not dead. The gray stays.
Gray never looked so good on a troublemaker.
