My 5 Other "Honey-Do" Tricks That Still Work After 3 Marriages
by Margot Hale, 58
After that red dress finally got the gutters sparkling clean, I knew I had to share the rest of my arsenal.
Three marriages taught me these five other tricks still work like a charm.
- The grocery list pause. I hand him the list, pause, then mention the garage needs sweeping. He volunteers before he reaches the milk aisle.
- The midnight snack hint. Around ten I say I'm craving cookies. He suddenly remembers the trash goes out tonight. Works every time.
- The coffee refill sigh. I top off his cup, sigh about the leaky faucet. My first ex fixed it before the pot was empty.
- The Sunday paper drop. I let the sports section fall, then whisper the lawn is getting shaggy. He mows before halftime.
- The lipstick touch-up. I freshen my red lipstick, casually note the overflowing recycle bin. Current husband hauls it out with a smile.
Honey, that's just good marriage math.
