My 5 Rules for Dressing with Confidence After 50
by Elena Voss, 50
Darling, right after I said that my ex strolled into the café with his new girl on his arm. I simply smiled, crossed my legs in my emerald satin dress, and let the neckline do the talking.
- Pick the neckline first. A soft scoop reveals one elegant collarbone. Enough to pause a conversation. Velvet makes it linger.
- Insist on perfect fit. Tailored at the waist. Never tight. My crimson dress turned the handsome waiter into a statue last Tuesday.
- Choose color with intent. Deep emerald or midnight blue. One glance and even strangers forget their appetizers at the next table.
- Add the quiet pause. A slow shoulder roll before you sit. Suddenly the whole room wonders what happens next with you.
- Tune out the critics. They whispered cover up. I wore the off-shoulder number anyway. My ex dropped his fork in pure shock.
Fifty really is the good part, Darling.
