My 7 Rules for Flirty Dining

by Elena Voss, 50

Darling, after that waiter nearly tripped bringing the second bottle, I just had to finish the story for you.

We ended up with seven unbreakable rules that keep the evening deliciously charged.

  • Smile at the menu, not the man. Let the waiter wonder why your lips curve that way over the specials.
  • Touch only the stem of the glass. Never his fingers even when he pours your favorite Pinot Noir.
  • Say come back fast. Then watch his eyes follow you while he clears the warm breadbasket.
  • Order dessert like a secret. Velvet chocolate cake, two forks, and one knowing glance across the table.
  • Laugh low at his jokes. The waiter's clever lines, not my ex's stale ones from our last anniversary.
  • Leave the napkin folded neatly. A quiet signal you are done yet not quite finished with the flirt.
  • Walk away slow. Heels clicking softly, satin dress brushing your legs for the whole room.

Men still haven't figured them out, have they?
